Comprof has joined Plastic Bank® project and obtained Plastic Offset Certificate

This is the question asked by Plastic Bank® , a Vancouver-based social enterprise committed to fighting plastic pollution in the oceans, to invite people to join its cause. A question that calls for action in front of an issue that is as topical and global as ever.

The Plastic Bank® project project consists of creating ethical recycling ecosystems in coastal regions whereby collected plastics are reprocessed and reintroduced into the global supply chain as Social Plastic®.

This is an important virtuous cycle by which coastal regions can provide for family needs such as buying food and fuel, paying school fees and health insurance. The project indeed includes a prize money for the people who engage in the collection of materials. 

Plastic Bank® is also aimed at companies that want to participate in change by using Social Plastic® raw materials in their products and packaging.

Social Plastic® raw materials are accompanied by verifiable declarations on their environmental impact and this positively influences the corporate reputation of all those companies that have adopted a plastic-free and eco-friendly attitude through internal policies and external communication.

Comprof has joined Plastic Bank project

Comprof, always careful about environmental policies, has recently joined the cause of Plastic Bank® and obtained an important award: the Plastic Offset Certificate.

The Plastic Offset Certificate certifies that Comprof has offset the use of 3,636 kg of plastic, the equivalent of 181.820 plastic half-litre bottles.

This certificate is a sign of the commitment and the attention that we, Comprof, together with our brands, give to the planet and its future. A cause that really matters to us. 

The pollution of the oceans by plastics is a highly topical issue, a contemporary global challenge to which everyone – individuals and companies alike – should pay attention by implementing small daily practices to safeguard ecosystems.

In particular, companies that use plastics to make and store their products should start using them in a forward-looking way to drastically reduce plastic consumption. The case of the Hair Care and Skin Care business is representative.

By joining Plastic Bank®, we also wanted to promote the idea of a circular economy by committing ourselves simultaneously to two sides that are important to us: fighting the phenomenon of plastic waste disposal, which overwhelmingly occupies the oceans, and combating the widespread poverty in some areas of the world. 

For us at Comprof, Plastic Bank® is a unique socio-environmental solidarity project and it is in line with Goal 12 of the 2030 Agenda, which aims to decrease waste production through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.

So we can’t be anything but proud and excited about this new adventure.
